When the clients contacted us, they already had very clear ideas about the house design and level of energy efficiency they wanted to achieve for their 4 bed 2,800 sqft family home. They were looking for a contemporary, sleek design that was as energy efficient as possible.
For their external walls they chose a Through-Colour-Render. Since the colour forms part of the render, the surface does not need to be painted and tends to retain its colour for longer. This particular product – which incorporates water repellents thus giving it a drier finish – gives a high degree of water repellency and a freshly rendered appearance for a longer period.
The clients chose an Air Source Heat pump to feed the under-floor heating system to the ground and first floor - with heating zones for optimum efficiency. This, along with the triple glazed windows, the surface-fixed solar panels provide exceptional SAP and ratings and energy retention.
In order to achieve the required modern sleek external design, a twin wall stainless steel flue was suggested to replace the traditional chimney. The kitchen/family room is open plan and the triple glazed bi-folding doors open out onto the external landscaped area.
The interior of the house was completed with customised Italian doors, an open plan staircase and a modern kitchen with raised casing for ovens, microwave and storage.
The Woodlands has four bedrooms (master-bedroom with dressing room and balcony), two En-Suites, family bathroom, study, three reception rooms, utility room and integral double garage.
